*APF (Assigned Protection Factors) and product compatibility are only effective when the employer implements a continuing, effective respirator program as required by Section 29 CFR 1910.134, including training, fit testing, maintenance and use requirements.

OSHA’s Standard for Respiratory Protection, §29 CFR 1910, 134, requires Employers to implement a change schedule for all canisters and cartridges when there is not an end of service life indicator on the cartridge or canister. The employer shall describe the respirator program the information and data relied upon and the basis for the canister and cartridge change schedule and the basis for reliance on the data. This schedule must be site specific and take into consideration worksite humidity, worker breathing rate as well as contaminant concentrations.
